New Mac Lipsticks

I was on the hunt for a great nude that would suit my (Asian) skin and I haven’t really been satisfied with the colours I had found. Maybe I was looking at the wrong colours! I realise now that I was looking for a pink rather than a pale brown. I was under the impression that a pale pink would not suit my skin, but I was obviously wrong.

I came across Faryal Makhdoom (aka Mrs Amir Khan; the famous British boxer’s wife), a recent blogger and YouTuber. I basically love the lipstick that she wears.

She wears both Velvet Teddy and Honey Love and I went to my local Mac counter on a hunt for them. I thought that Velvet Teddy would suit me, but when I was enquiring at the till, this lovely lady said that Honey Love would look better on my skin than Velvet Teddy and she was right. I wore it with Beurre lipliner and it looked great! So I snapped it up.

Keeping with the nudes, I also took the opportunity to purchase the most coveted lipliner – Whirl, a Kyley Jenner favourite.

As I am blogging about Mac purchases, I thought it is only apt to mention that I also made a cheeky previous purchase. I recently bought Viva Glam II, which is a great alternative to a blood red, as it is more darker. Plus I think bright red doesn’t particularly suit me. It is a lovely colour and I would highly recommend it.

Here are some swatches of the lipsticks:

The first is the Whirl Lipliner, second is the lipliner plus Honey Love and lastly Viva Glam II.

The Perfect Red Lipstick

I wanted to get the perfect red lipstick for my skin tone and I have been loving the Sephora lip stain in 01 on many a You Tuber. Unfortunately, we can’t get Sephora in the UK. So I was very envious at those who could get their hands on it stateside (or France, as I heard that you can get Sephora there too).

I was very happy to have tried the following MUA luxe velvet lip lacquer. I tried it on my hand first and thought maybe it was a bit light. The price is so good at £3 that I decided a risk had to be taken. I was very glad that I did, as when I wore it to a wedding recently I was very impressed.

The colour I bought was Reckless and here is what it looked like:

And here is the swatch:

Overall, I am really happy with the colour and happy that I didn’t spend too much on getting the perfect red for my lips! It is in my opinion a good dupe for the Sephora lip stain in 01.

This is the end result.

So I recently got these beautiful bracelets from Buckley London.

It’s three beautiful bracelets ranging from gold, rose gold and black rhodium. The designs are unique and look fantastic on their own, paired up or worn together.

The mesh design is elegant and gives a classic look on the arm.

I was very happy with these bracelets and will wear them with any outfit. They will look sparkly in the summer too!

The jewellery is high quality and highly recommended. Check them out for yourselves: www.buckleylondon.com.

my new love

They say love is blind. I don’t know about that but it would be a crying shame if love wasn’t fragrant. Our sense of smell can trigger all sorts of memories and can also remind us of the ones we love.

What better way to enjoy this Valentine then with your favourite fragrance, without having to leave your home and create some ambience.

So we come to my new love. And yes you have guessed it… A fragrance!

hearts

I am loving the new Narciso by Narciso Rodriguez perfume. It has three notes to entice the heart with a musky yet floral, amber and woody toned scent.

I can’t explain it – I just love the smell! It smells devine and I can smell it on my skin longer than most perfumes, so that adds a bonus to the love.

The perfume comes in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml and you can get it from Debenhams, House of Fraser where I came across it and Boots (the bigger ones.)

I highly recommend this fragrance if you want something unique and lovel-ly.

a gift for you

A little effort goes a long way. A lovely gift bouquet can be achieved using a woven basket that you may have specially bought or just happen to have laying around 😉 Line it with tissue paper and fill it with a few lovingly packed gifts.

I made my own bouquet recently for my new sister-in-law as a wedding gift. I added a case of makeup, a perfume gift pack, some minuture and choice makeup including some skincare products.

My lovely cousin Saadia kindly helped me pack the bouquet using flower wrapping or colourful cellophane topped with a great big bow!

The outcome was an amazing gift basket lovingly packed with thoughtfulness and not just shop bought. This also makes a unique gift.

All in all a gift that can be treasured.

A bouquet gift especially for you

a Revolution

This is definitely a revolution in makeup. Whoever thought of the name was truely a genious in all marketing respects. So the makeup has to live up to its name and it does.

I have tried a few of makeup-revolution products and I must say I have been impressed. Not only for the quality, but also because of the price.

I love the highlighters and the eyeshadows. However, I have been the most impressed with the foil eyeshadows. When it comes to quality and price these are not far from their counterparts Stila’s foil eyeshadows. They are slightly different but I think for the price these eyeshadows are a great alternative and will save the pennies.

Makeup Revolution

These foil eyeshadows give great colour on the eyes and when combined with the single eyeshadows, it makes for sensational colour. So you can use these on their own for a sizzling shine or combine it with another colour to make a unique eye colour.

I must admit I was highly impressed with this formulation and for just £4 it is much more affordable than the Stila ones at £33.

All in all this a great foil eyeshadow not to be missed and a line that just can’t be ignored!

New Years Eve

New Years Eve (NYE) is about celebration. Really from another prospective the time is going so fast that celebrating a year gone in life is a tad sad. Sigh. xx

But celebrating can be deemed as welcoming the New Year in with good tidings and love. Whether it is with the one you love, some friends or just your loving family. Enjoyment is the key.

So spending New Years Eve with the family is the best possible way to welcome the New Year in.

In the past on NYE I have been out to the town but this can be rather expensive with all the bookings and of course the taxi back.

So bring out the gladrags and the beautifying treatments for a nice cosy night in with the family and in laws. 😉

This year it’s mostly about the food and watching the fireworks from the comfort of your warm and cosy house or if you’re brave you can venture out into the cold. But me being a bit of a homely person loves to stay indoors. 🙂

Is it worth spending the money or just relaxing in the comfort of your own home?
