Skiing with the family

When choosing a holiday there are many options. When going with the family the options to a holiday are, either a holiday in a sun or the snow; or if your lucky both! 🙂

A holiday in the snow can have it’s advantages and fun, especially if it is a past time that is a passion for yourselves as a parent.

Skiing with the family may sound intimidating, however there are a lot of positives about going to ski with the family. If you have little one, you can drop them off to be cared for, that is if they are really young. Otherwise if they are over 3/4-11, there are specialist ski instructors that can teach them how to ski in a fun way.

It may be a daunting thought but going with the family is something that will not only involve the family and if taught properly, it can be a really good life skill to have, especially if learnt young. Skiing as a child can be very beneficial and is relatively easier to learn for a child as they have a lower fear factor.

A good place to start your skiing would be on an indoor slope where they also have instructors. I was lucky enough to have a day out with my son to an indoor snow slope which was kindly organised by Crystal Ski. The ski slope we went to was in Hemel Hempstead, which is the nearest one to London.

Crystal Ski offer some great packages for the family. So you can have peace of mind that things have been taken care of and the kids will be in safe hands. Their caring and professional childcare team can look after babies from as little as 6 months old, to children up to the age of 11 years.

Crystal Ski has a useful family guide to the mountains which can be viewed.

It’s also best to view all the options, as some resorts are better for family skiing. Also, look out for resorts that offer free child places, which can work out a much better deal. It is also best to look at resorts that include all facilities, such as, ski school, hire and lift passes.

Another great facility that they offer is called a pyjama club. It’s an evening club that is available in selected properties and operates for up to 6 evenings during the week. Leaving you to relax and enjoy your evening meal knowing your kids are being cared for -to me that sounds like bliss! These evenings arethemed and may include a Wii™ games, a party night and competitions.

They have a Whizz Kids Club for 3/4 years – 11 years, which includes:

  • Six days of child ski lessons.
  • Six days of child ski equipment hire.

  • Six full days of fun and activities.

  • All-inclusive package. Available in: France, Italy & Slovenia

So back to skiing in the snow centre. I’d like to thank Crystal Ski for arranging a fun ski day, making us feel welcome and for the introduction to skiing indoors.

We have been skiing before and so it helped keep the skills in tact and I couldn’t get my son off the slope. 🙂 It was a thoroughly enjoyable day. Here are some pictures of our amazing time!

My son annoyed thats he had to come off the snow slope.

Here’s a sample package:

Big ski area and childcare (from 6 months up to 11 years at hotel)

The price for a week all-inclusive catering and drinks for a family of four is from £1,337 at the three-star Hotel Claviere in Claviere, Italian Milky Way ski area, with flights from Luton and airport transfers (departure 10 January 2016).

A five-minutes’ walk to the ski school and nearest ski lift, pre-bookable Crystal-run Pepi Penguin crèche and Whizz kids’ clubs based in the hotel, 24-hour access to fridge, kettle, sterilise, microwave.

Kill Your Friends

Kill Your Friends

I recently attended a special preview cinema screening of the film; Kill Your Friends at the CourtHouse Hotel.

The film stars Nicholas Hoult, James Corden, Georgia King, Craig Roberts, Jim Piddock, Joseph Mawle, Ed Skrein, Tom Riley, Ed Hogg, Rosanna Arquette, Moritz and Bleibtreuand. There is also the special appearance from Rosanna Arquette. 🙂

It is based around the record industry, but the rather dark side of. Nicholas Hoult plays an A&R man who has to search out for new talent in the music world, as well as the next ‘killer tunes’ in more ways than one.

The film isn’t what I usually would go to see, (that is more me and not a reflection of the film) but it is well made and entertaining. The humour is very English, dark and on-point.

Nicholas Hoult’s acting is superb, as was all the actors.  It is somewhat contrived in parts but that I think was the beauty, as it is meant to be exaggerated.

I especially liked how Nicholas Hoult’s character spoke to himself and/or the audience.

Apart from the seedy parts (which were obviously there for a reason) this is a good film, humour is good and the acting, also tremendous. So I would recommend it for just that.

The soundtrack is also worth a listen. #KillYourFriends is out in UK cinemas today. So do give it a watch!

Beauty Blogger Awards 2015

I recently attended the Beauty Blogger Awards hosted at The Pillar Hall at the Olympia Exhibition Centre, London in October.

The awards were equally great, as the Olympia beauty show was also held right next door, so I could kill two birds with one stone. It was also good to pick up some more makeup goodies, especially ones that can’t be bought in the UK. I will be doing a haul and blog post soon.

The event was also a way to attend workshops, learn and meet some great brands with great products! The brands there were some exciting ones including NYX cosmetics, Magnitone, Skin Accumax, Bio Sculpture to Tweezerman.

The awards were fun, informative and an excellent way to recognise and reward blogger achievement.

The workshops were really good, useful and a good way for other key speakers to pass on their expertise. I found the losing your mojo workshop most informative and created ideas for me on how to decide blog content and how to easily revive old content.

The lovely people from BestSecret provided a fabulous goodie bag worth £250!

The American brand NYX was also there and had an amazing Photo Booth which was rather fun; including a fan to make your hair more glamorous looking. LOL. Take a look at the photo below. NYX cosmetics also provided an amazing goodie bag full of a rather generous amount of NYX cosmetics, which I was very really pleased with as I am a huge fan!

I also found Antonia; The Cosmedic Coach who was speaking at the event very enlightening, her advice was very beneficial and made sense. Her advice of having a media kit was something I never ever thought about really, especially as I am an Online Marketing professional myself.

All in all it was such a good event that I will be putting it into my diary for next year for sure.

Until next year…

Here are some pictures from the day:

Fun by Lush

I recently went to Lush in Wimbledon to indulge in their beautifully fragrant bath bombs and bath beauties. The haul is coming soon!

Whilst there I discovered a really cool product not only great for the bath but also for kids!

Lush Fun

Lush Fun

Lush Fun

I bought the fun bath putty that can be made into cool shapes! Versatile and mouldable, it’s called Fun which can be soap, shampoo, bubble bath or whatever you want it to be – the only limit being your imagination.

I was very intrigued and it piqued my interest as it had many possibilities!

It is like play dough (but in soap form) that kids can have fun creating whatever shapes or figures they want, whether snowmen, teddies or – the possibilities are endless.  Once finished, it can be crumbled into the bath. It is best to crumble under running water to create Lush bubbles!

I bought the Magic of Christmas, which is glittery but doesn’t make a mess. Smells nice and creates some great bubbles and fun in the bath.

My son loved it and of course he wasn’t put off by the glitter. LOL.

You can see the video here and I love the description – “It’s a magical time of the year, so release your inner illusionist and stage a bath of stimulating juniperberry and zesty tangerine bubbles to send your mood soaring. This bright, lustre-filled bar is just the trick for shaping into your own witch or wizard, or shampooing hair with.”

It’s a must have and fun for all ages!

Kleem Serum

Kleem, A Dream Cream?

I had the great opportunity to try a new product called Kleem. It isn’t quite a cream, but a serum. An intensive rejuvenating vitamin serum.

I love this serum, as it’s been really good in combating dry patches that I suffered from, mostly around my mouth.  Especially in winter this will be good for combating skin dryness that can be a killer during harsher weather.

This is also great as it is good for ageing.

The serum is made using a concentrate of vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, witch hazel and arginine, perfect for smoother skin.  I must say that this has truly been a wonder in more ways than one, not only for my face but for my hands too.  What was left on my hands, I rubbed in which made my hands also feel smoother and softer. I suffer from dry, cracked and broken skin on my hands, which this rid.

I have used most of it and will be sad when it finishes. You can get this wonder serum from Amazon, so an order will have to be made! 🙂

Great venue for weddings

I recently went to Keythorpe Manor for a summer wedding and I must say it was the perfect location! They have fabulous grounds, beautiful arrangements and tucked away areas!

We were (my family and I) lucky to have some great weather that day too.  The wedding venue is in Leicester, which I must admit isn’t the usual place that I have been, so it was all the more nicer!

There was a lot to do there too, from crocket and skittles (with coconuts no less – being that it was an Indian wedding) to just walking around the grounds.

While driving down you could also possibly miss a hidden location which is just breathtaking and where you can hear the live peacocks while walking through.

There is also an amazing swing with flowers wrapped around it, just ever so picturesque for the perfect wedding shoot!

This being a Desi wedding meant wearing traditional and ethnic clothing. I wore this bright blue and green shalwar kameez.

Here are some photos from this breathtaking place with borrowed shoes (my mum’s, as I had kicked mine off) and my son.

Enjoy!

What's in the box?
Blog

Think Pink

I recently got a new box which is called Pink Parcel.  As it is cancer awareness month and it’s all about pink, I thought I’d link the two together and tell you about this new subscription box called Pink Parcel.  It is a really good idea, as every time of the month instead of a bout of moodiness and being down, you can look forward to a pick me up.  The box offers either an option of tampons or towels according to preference. It also includes and few indulgent products, you can say “feel good” products.

The box comes in three parts, for now, for you and for later. The for now is as the name suggests to use now, if presuming you are on, but I guess the beauty of this box is that it is timed to co-incide with your cycle – what a cool concept!.

The for you is the exciting part of the parcel where the indulgence lies. This box is packed with beauty and lifestyle goodies.

I had some fantastic products in my parcel. A really deep maroon that would be great for the Autumn or Fall season. The nail polish is an OPI one, so from a good respected brand. There also was an Elizabeth Arden serum with beads, which I am excited to try! There are a lot of other products that can be seen in the picture, so go one and get your box! You can get the pink box online here.

It’s well worth the treat! – A great concept and a great thought!
