Bloggers Fun Fair

I recently attended a cool fashion show and #BloggerFunfair at the snazzy Soho Bar with Joe Browns, a great clothing company!

Joe Browns has a great many clothes to choose from not only for every season, but for women, men and children alike. It’s quite clear that the clothes are made well, of quality and good stitching, which is transcended in every piece of clothing.

The venue was in the trendy Soho bar and the theme was fun and funky. It was a bloggers funfair, all wrapped up in popcorn, candy floss and glorious cocktails.

I particularly liked the floral designs intricately woven into many of the dresses, the jeans and within the leather jacket, as worn below.

The clothing was on trend and perfect for the Autumn and Winter season. After clocking the clothes on show, I was in awe and will soon be making a few orders!

Here are a few pictures of the fashion show and the festivities. The models were also sassy and bold!

Thank you Joe Browns and Emily for inviting me into your fashionable world!

Bloggers London Fashion Week

I have had a busy few days going to events over the last 2 weeks. Another great event I attended was at the OXO2 with The Bloggers Hangout which is a great company that put bloggers in touch with some fabulous companies.  The event was the Bloggers London Fashion Week #BLFW and took place on 7th September.  Just in case you were interested, you can see the agenda and who attended here >

The dress code was “all black chic”, so I went with a pretty black dress, leggings and a bold lip.

I must say that the OXO2 had some amazing views too! The layout of the venue was also awesome with great decor touches and comfortable areas to take photos.

The only regret I had was not attending both sessions on the day, that way I would have met the other companies that I missed and I must say I am gutted!

I did however, attend the evening session, due to being at work earlier, met some great brands and generally had a great time.  I had my sister with me and together we enjoyed being in the heart of London and at a fun venue with some time to glam, mingle and do some meets and greets.

Firstly, my sister and I met some lovely ladies from Great Lengths who quite kindly added a few strands of coloured hair extensions, I got a dark red put into my hair.  It is a great and fun way to add some chic style.

There was also a nail artist from True Brit London, where we got some nail polishes to sample.  The colour I got is a really nice pinky lilac which is good for weddings.

I also got foundation colour matched by Benefit who were also there with the Hello Flawless foundation, which I did like, however, I thought it did make my skin shiny.  This is a good foundation for those who have dry skin.

I met a lot of great companies, these brands were Boho Betty, Miglio, Halo Hair Extensions, Kleem Organics, Little Ondine, Nadia Minkoff, Boadicea Perfumes to mention but a few. I have some really nice pieces that I will blog about later!

Thanks to The Bloggers Hangout for a wonderful venue, experience, fashion show and the opportunity to meet such amazing brands, products and people!

Here are some glorious pictures from night at OXO!

Vernez App Launch

I recently went to the launch of Vernez on the Wednesday 2nd September in Shoreditch.

Vernez is a new and innovative fashion app and awesome because you can taylor styles that might look good on you and find out where to buy them, as well as purchasing them online.  The app has the unique selling point that it is easy to use, the clothes are clear to see and very wearable! It’s a place to unwind and make your own fashion!

At the moment, the app can be downloaded on Apple iPhone, via iTunes, which is great as I am an iPhone lover.

Also, what’s great about it is that you can follow the people you like or who are your fashion inspirations and see where they get their clothes. For example, if you like a certain person’s style you copy it or be inspired by their looks. Basically just know where they got a great outfit, I know that would really peak my interest. Also, did I mention that you can also create your own posts and fashion magazines too.

The app is the brainchild of Moyang Yang who graduated in Psychology and had a keen interest in fashion, where she realised there was a link. She herself is an inspiration, she is self-made and a great role model!

The event was not only informative but also great fun. There was a Digital table to try the app, a great photo booth, candy floss machine and a big fat cat, who was uber cute!

I even met a talented singer and fellow blogger Robyn Regan. It’s was so lovely to meet her!

All in all it was a great event to attend and the app is well worth a download for all fashion lovers! Download the app now >

It was also great to meet Sarah Bacchus who is a fellow blogger and photographer (The photo above is accredited to her). Do take a look at her blog at slbstyle. On a sidetone, I just loved her shoes!

Here are some more pictures from the event – enjoy!

It was a great night! Download the app now >

Cohorted Beauty Box

I ordered a Cohorted box and it was recently delivered.  I was so excited to open it, as this box is really good and I can highly recommend it. The only thing is that if you too want to order one you have to be fast and they sell out quickly.

The box and it’s contents are more than worth the money you pay and this isn’t like any other box which is why it proves to be so popular.

The August box contained the following products that I was more than pleased with:

A Bare Escentuals soft focus face brush, which looks like it is really soft and has the right amount of hairs to make a smooth application.

A Cargo eyeshadow quad – This quad is impressive indeed. The four eyeshadows are a good size, so will last a long time.  The colours are great; two browns, a bronzy shade with specs of gold and a nice grass green shade. It comes in a compact with mirror and each shadow is 3 grams.

A Laura Geller Baked duo eyeshadows in Fine Wines – These eyeshadows are baked so will be a dream to apply and the colours are great for Autumn or the fall!

A bareVitamins skin rev-er upper – This is designed to re-energise your complexion and continually smooth out the skin’s surface. The skin will appear clearer while providing a flawless makeup application.

Molton Brown relaxing yuan ahi body cream in 30ml – This smells nice and if you’re a fan of Molton Brown, you’ll really like this.

All in all, I am really happy with these products and so excited to try them! Order Now >

Back to School with Smiggle

Smiggle – just the name makes you smile. Smiggle is a fun stationary store that originates from Australia. They have several stores in other countries including New Zealand, Singapore and now in the UK.

I recently went to Smiggle to see their back to school range and to pick up some goodies for both my son and niece for when they go back to school.

When you first enter the store, the first thing is that you’re hit with a vibrancy of colour.  The store just oozes fun and puts the magic back into stationary. It’s like a step back in time and all I can say is I wish I had a Smiggle store and it’s goodies when I was young!

They have the most amazing range of pencils, pens, cases and stationary bits. It’s not just reserved for the kids; adults can have fun too! There are some great bags and even safe’s to keep your money safe!

So back to school. It’s daunting enough for the child when going back to school but also for the parent. It’s a task and a half to get all that is needed for school and in one place. This is where Smiggle comes in. It has all the stationary that any child would need!

Their back to school range is also handy where some pencil cases contain everything (bar the pens and pencils) that is needed for class. Within the pencil case you have scissors, sellotape, rubber, sharpener and ruler, all concealed within their own compartments. It sure makes it easier to look after, without too much trouble, especially when you have kids prone to losing things, like mine!

My son loved the safe money box that I bought him. I also bought him a few cool pens and the above mentioned pencil case.

They have some awesome smelling pencils from cookies, cola, lemon and mint to choose from. I particularly loved the cola and cookie smelling ones.

Another cool item is a secret pen, where children and adults alike can write secret messages that isn’t visible to the eye until the light at the other side of the pen in shone on it. Ingenious.

I also liked their small boxes (resembling a small lunch box) with three to four glorious smelling rubbers. These can also be re-used to house, pins, clips or any other small items, including medicines (for adults only). There are an array to choose from from food to fruit rubbers. It’s a girl or boy’s dream place!

The staff are very friendly, welcoming and the store has a vast amounts of goodies to choose from. You can spend as much time as you want deciding what you want, which makes it easier to choose what you need.

You could quite easily loose yourself in the store. Kids have plenty to do and see, as well as buy. They have a great trying out table where you can try some of the stationary – a try before you buy. The only thing is that your child will either want everything in the shop or it’ll be really hard to get them out of there!

Just be warned even though it might be hours of fun with your child, it’ll leave a hole in your pocket, but you will be your child’s best friend and that is reward in itself!

Bloggers Hub Food Fest

I recently went to the Bloggers Hub event held in the Kanaloa Club which incidentally was a great bar and venue to have a party! This was the first time I went to a food bloggers event and it was very interesting. Tasting food is anyone’s dream!

I met quite a few great companies who had some great food goodies to market.

There was an array of fruits, goodies, drinks and scrumptiousness.

I had some delicious foods and met some great people. Some fairly new and small brands and some more established.

My son particularly enjoyed the Nosh, which is a breakfast in a bottle, made with real fruits and oats that were chewy and flavoursome. The drink contained the following ingredients, quinoa, oats, greek yoghurt, fruit pieces and apple juice. Yummy! It contained some great advantages which meant that you would feel fuller for up to 10 hours and it wasn’t just a smoothie, but a ‘foothie’.

I particularly loved a delicious brownie from the Good Brownie company, which believe it not was wheat and gluten free. I tried the hazelnut brownie which was very moist and not too sweet. It was a pleasure to talk to the owner, he had so much passion for his product. David told me the way they started by offering free brownies and then people liking them and expanding the business from word of mouth, which was a great startup story. I was impressed that he was offered to have his brownies in Whole Foods but turned them down. I must admit, I thought that was a brave move!

I also met some very friendly people from Cocofina, with some great coconut based products. I was blown away with their helpfulness and friendliness. They gave me more products to try then anyone there and gave me a big bag to hold the food I was given, which was very kind and useful. I really liked the coconut bars and the organic mango and coconut snacks.

I met Sukrin who really looked interesting, they had some great types of flour; almond, coconut, sesame and peanut to make cakes or sweet treats. It looked good, but unfortunately there was nothing to try. They did say if I got in touch they would send some samples though.

I got some yummy olives too called Oloves. They produce and sell olives to over 14 countries and the olives contain just 50 calories per bag, which I must say is a great selling point, especially for those who look after their health. I particularly liked their business cards which had great designs and were very colourful.

I got a great spicy biscuit from the Speculaas spice company which was a nice snack. He had some tips on great recipes that the spices could be used with.

Glorious soups were also there. The soups are yummy and there is a good variety to choose from. To top it all off they are also low calories, so good for you too!

Chika’s was also there. What’s interesting about them is that they were recently on Dragons Den. They also sell in Whole Foods. The chickpea crisps were a new offering which I must admit tasted bland, but I did like their smoked almonds.

Other brands I saw were from Rapeseed oil from Borderfields, Koko; dairy free products, Darling; Gluten free snacks and crisps, Rosy Lee tea, Berrywhite; some organic fruit drinks and pack’d; which you can make great frozen smoothies with!

Hellofresh was also there which is an internet based service, where you can get fresh ingredients to your door that you can cook easily with. You’ve probably seen them on the tv.

All in all it was a very foodie and enjoyable event! Very different to the beauty ones that I usually attend.

Blog Desi Vibes Eid

Eid Day Outfit

Last weekend we celebrated Eid; a Muslim festival after the month of fasting.

We celebrate by giving charity, appreciating food and spending time with the family.  The festival of Eid occurred during the weekend, meaning we had more days to celebrate which was a bonus!

Typically the day will start with the men going to pray.  The women can also go to the mosque, pray and be more social, however some women tend to stay home an prefer to organise the home and food that needs to be prepared. It is also tradition to make a sweet dish called seviyan, which is made out of vermicelli, a bit of butter, cream or condensed milk and normal milk. This is eaten in the morning after prayers and my son really loves this sweet dish!

It is a time to have family round and have a lunch or dinner party. This year my family came to mine for dinner. It was very nice to have them round, as that’s what Eid is all about.

This Eid I had a great time, with my family as my brother came down from Bristol. My husband’s brother and new wife also spent their first Eid with us after they had got married which was nice.

I had ordered a suit from a site, but unfortunately it wasn’t like the picture and was slightly big for me, so I didn’t end up wearing it, which was unfortunate.  I did however, luckily have another option which I had bought through my mum which she thought would be a good idea as an Eid present from her (from my Eidi). Eidi is usually in the form of a present which can either be a gift or money. So the outfit I wore on Eid was a gift from my mum.

I wore a blue outfit with pink embroidery. I liked it because the pink really stood out and suited my complexion.

I also curled my hair using the BaByliss (2285BU) hair curlers. My hair is dead straight so doesn’t curl easy. I used the Umberto Giannini Princess Purrfect Hot Styler Spray, which not only curled my hair with ease but also allows the hair to curl with great hold (for at least 2 days).

I also used the extras I got for Eid (in my last post) and I used the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Foundation, which is just brilliant!

I had a wonderful time on Eid, it is a time to celebrate, have fun and dress up!

I hope all my family, friends and readers had a great Eid too!

How did you spend your Eid?
