Great venue for weddings

I recently went to Keythorpe Manor for a summer wedding and I must say it was the perfect location! They have fabulous grounds, beautiful arrangements and tucked away areas!

We were (my family and I) lucky to have some great weather that day too.  The wedding venue is in Leicester, which I must admit isn’t the usual place that I have been, so it was all the more nicer!

There was a lot to do there too, from crocket and skittles (with coconuts no less – being that it was an Indian wedding) to just walking around the grounds.

While driving down you could also possibly miss a hidden location which is just breathtaking and where you can hear the live peacocks while walking through.

There is also an amazing swing with flowers wrapped around it, just ever so picturesque for the perfect wedding shoot!

This being a Desi wedding meant wearing traditional and ethnic clothing. I wore this bright blue and green shalwar kameez.

Here are some photos from this breathtaking place with borrowed shoes (my mum’s, as I had kicked mine off) and my son.

Enjoy!

Bloggers Fun Fair

I recently attended a cool fashion show and #BloggerFunfair at the snazzy Soho Bar with Joe Browns, a great clothing company!

Joe Browns has a great many clothes to choose from not only for every season, but for women, men and children alike. It’s quite clear that the clothes are made well, of quality and good stitching, which is transcended in every piece of clothing.

The venue was in the trendy Soho bar and the theme was fun and funky. It was a bloggers funfair, all wrapped up in popcorn, candy floss and glorious cocktails.

I particularly liked the floral designs intricately woven into many of the dresses, the jeans and within the leather jacket, as worn below.

The clothing was on trend and perfect for the Autumn and Winter season. After clocking the clothes on show, I was in awe and will soon be making a few orders!

Here are a few pictures of the fashion show and the festivities. The models were also sassy and bold!

Thank you Joe Browns and Emily for inviting me into your fashionable world!

Magnitone Lucid – Hot or Not? Plus Readers Bonus!

So I was lucky enough to be able to do a review* on the new Magnitone Lucid cleansing and exfoliating brush and when it came in the mail, I was very excited to try it out as soon as I got it!

Before we get into the review I wanted to thank Bloggers Love for giving me the opportunity to speak to Magnitone on an event that they held in London for Bloggers Fashion Week and again via a Twitter online BHTwitterParty event. I am therefore so delighted to have this opportunity to test the Magnitone Lucid.

You too can now try the Magnitone Lucid with my special 20% discount code for you, my readers: Afshan20

Follow this link: po.st/TjNmMb to get your discount on the Magnitone Lucid, which will change the way your skin looks and feels!

Magnitone Lucid is a unique system that allows the skin to be cleansed, while using your favourite cleanser and the Lucid brush. This system consists of a brush with pulsing bristles powered by Active Electromagnetic, that helps to rid skin of trapped dirt, while cleansing it and exfoliating the skin.

The brush normally retails at £69.99, but with my discount code Afshan20, you are bagging yourself a bargain! From my research this is much more competitive than other brands.

I took the 7-day better and clearer skin challenge. Here is my diary and findings:

Day 1, I have just started using the Lucid brush today and start by taking off all my makeup. Adding my Murad Cleanser onto the brush and focusing on areas of my face. Another positive about the Lucid brush is that it alerts you with an alarm on the time needed on the particular area that you are working on. So far so good. I can feel that the brush is penetrating into my skin and I like the way the pulses feel.

Day 2, Be prepared for a full cleanse meaning a few breakouts may occur, but that’s a good thing; it means that the impurities are coming out.

Day 3, I can see visible results of where my skin looks better, shinier (I suffer from dry skin) and more vibrant. Plus I like the way my skin feels after a thorough cleanse with the brush.

Day 4, Now that I am used to how the cleanse system works, I am finding it easier and faster to use. Today I cleansed sections of my face fast, not concentrating on an area at a time but on the mass area. This is ok too, as sometimes time can be limited.

Day 5, I now have a real idea and knack of how the Lucid works. It is rather enjoyable to use as the pulses are soothing and I can feel that the dirt is being lifted. I can also visibly see that my blackheads look improved and my pores are less visible.

Day 6, shows that my skin is brighter. I do have a few slight spots, but these don’t really bother me as it’s understandable that if the skin is cleansed then it will be obvious that the impurities will come to the surface.

Here is a picture taken on the first day (left side) of using the Lucid and day 7 on the right. The picture on the right may be a bit dark, but you can see that my skin looks visibly better and without any spots.

So to the conclusion – does my skin feel better? Is it hot or not? The simple answer is – YES, my skin feels fresher and smoother. I have also noticed that my foundation glides on better and my pores are much less visible which is very pleasing.

The Magnitone Lucid is very easy to use and the brush can be fitted also with relative ease. Note that the brush needs to be charged for 24 hours before the first use. The small charger connects to the front through the use of a magnet, this can then be plugged in and charged in the mains. The Lucid also comes with an International 2 pin connector, which is ideal when going abroad. It is also fully waterproof so that it can be used in the shower and thus time saving, especially in the morning when in a rush to get to work.

Another great thing about the Lucid is that it is very travel friendly and of course as mentioned the two pin helps when on holiday. For a gal like me who loves to travel, it is a Godsend!

I am overall very pleased and satisfied with my Magnitone Lucid and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to look after his or her skin with minimal fuss.

April Favourites

April was a brilliant month. At the end of March it was my birthday and April marked my husband’s.

It’s fun planning a birthday. So many things to think about. Family, cake, venue and having a fun time! At the event I wore and ate some of my favourite things this month.

Here’s a few pictures!

Processed with Moldiv

I wore some of my favourite buys this month. The dress was from H&M and the bag Next. Full picture below. I am loving fringing at the moment and what better way to wear this trend but in a classic suede leather handbag.

The party was held in a restaurant called Yumn Brasserie in South Croydon, which was really nice. The decor was very classy and the food nice. I ordered Masala Lamb Shank which was great and for desert we had a yummy fresh fruit and cream cake from Cake Box in Tooting. Just look at that cake, you can just see that it’ll taste too good!

A few cocktails were had.

Another April favourite was the necklace I wore from Marks & Spencer; it’s rather big and a great statement piece.

All in all it was a great month. What were your April favourites?

MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Laquer

The Perfect Red Lipstick

I wanted to get the perfect red lipstick for my skin tone and I have been loving the Sephora lip stain in 01 on many a You Tuber. Unfortunately, we can’t get Sephora in the UK. So I was very envious at those who could get their hands on it stateside (or France, as I heard that you can get Sephora there too).

I was very happy to have tried the following MUA luxe velvet lip lacquer. I tried it on my hand first and thought maybe it was a bit light. The price is so good at £3 that I decided a risk had to be taken. I was very glad that I did, as when I wore it to a wedding recently I was very impressed.

The colour I bought was Reckless and here is what it looked like:

And here is the swatch:

Overall, I am really happy with the colour and happy that I didn’t spend too much on getting the perfect red for my lips! It is in my opinion a good dupe for the Sephora lip stain in 01.

This is the end result.

Gift

a gift for you

A little effort goes a long way. A lovely gift bouquet can be achieved using a woven basket that you may have specially bought or just happen to have laying around 😉 Line it with tissue paper and fill it with a few lovingly packed gifts.

I made my own bouquet recently for my new sister-in-law as a wedding gift. I added a case of makeup, a perfume gift pack, some minuture and choice makeup including some skincare products.

My lovely cousin Saadia kindly helped me pack the bouquet using flower wrapping or colourful cellophane topped with a great big bow!

The outcome was an amazing gift basket lovingly packed with thoughtfulness and not just shop bought. This also makes a unique gift.

All in all a gift that can be treasured.

A bouquet gift especially for you

Another wedding, Another suit

You can’t beat a good wedding, whether a family one or one of your friend’s.

Sometimes dressing up can be such a chore and on other times it can be a joy, especially when it is a close wedding and you are dressing up with all of your cousins.

suits

The beauty of wearing an Asian / Pakistani shalwar suit is that it can look elegant and transport you into a whole different world.

The dress I am wearing here is from Karachi, Pakistan. My mum bought it and I was really happy with it when she bought it.

It was different to the traditional dresses. It sports an almost maxi dress look that is in fashion now in Pakistan.

The leggings were also great, I haven’t come across anything like it in the UK. It is almost like lycra, but with a dazzling glittery material. It is out of this world, but was I must admit difficult to put on!

I hope you like it, I added a slicing effect, which gives an interesting look.
