Stax Diner

We recently went to Stax, an American style diner for our Anniversary. The restaurant is in a fantastic location, just nearby to Carnaby Street called Kingly Court. Kingly Court has a choice of restaurants on a ream of floors.

We chose Stax because it was halaal and because it had some tasty looking authentic burgers.

The menu has a good choice from burgers, popcorn shrimp, sandwiches to chicken and waffles. There are also shakes that are very tasty indeed.

There are also some great sides, from spicy fries, onions rings, fried green tomatoes to battered pickles.

We ordered the fried green tomatoes and battered pickles with the burger. I did like them, but I would only order these with a bigger group of people as it was too much for three.

I was really excited to try the fried green tomatoes, however, it tasted just like the pickle so you definitely didn’t need both!

I ordered the chicken burger, called ‘The Chickadee’ and my husband went for the challenge! Basically the challenge is a stack of burgers in one bun, in fact 5 beef burgers! See it to believe it!

The challenge is that you eat the burger, fries and a very large milkshake, all by yourself. Actually we did end up sharing it, as it really is a challenge.

I had an enjoyable time and the food was great and a change from the norm.

Here are the pics of the tasty food. Yum! I would really recommend it.

Secret To Supple Hair

Want Supple Hair? Then read on…

I have been using the Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System, well the shampoo and conditioner for over a month now and I can say that it has been a miracle for my hair.

My hair has been very dry of late. Not really sure why but hair can become very dry all of a sudden and I have been trying oils, 2-in-1 shampoos and even leave in conditoners and nothing was making a difference.

My hair has grown a lot recently and I have coloured my hair which I think contributed to my hair being quite dry. After using this system, I can say that my hair is in much better condition and is almost better than normal. I even switched up the shampoo with the Ultimate Blends Nourishing Repairer Shampoo by Garnier, because I thought it may be similar and so that I wouldn’t use up the shampoo – Madness I know! LOL. I started using the shampoo, as part of the system and I can tell you there is a big difference to the Garnier one.

Lack lustre and dry hair to gloriously shiny and better managed hair in a matter of weeks. It took longer for me due to switching the shampoo, but I think sometimes it’s good to experiment and learn these things even if it is the hard way.

The Superfruit Complex contains raspberry ketone, goji, acai, guava and of course shea butter. It’s the shea butter that makes the difference!

I can say that this system is really good and worth buying. You can get it in the bigger Boots stores or online at Amazon.

It’s So Lush!

I recently went to Lush and got some fabulously smelling bath bombs.

There is such an array to choose from and some, well most really smell out of this world! The vast array of fragrant aromas invitingly greet you upon your arrival.  I love the smell of a Lush shop and if you have many, the same smell can be achieved in your bathroom.

Depending on preferences there is something for everyone. Not only bath bombs, but a choice of shower gels, masks, soaps and hair care, just some of the products on offer.

So back to my haul or shall I say shopping trip.  I bought the cutsy teddy bear which smells devine and not a bad price at £1.95 and is one of the cheaper bath bombs.

Next is the Candy Mountain which smells deliciously sweet and at £2.95, is not bad for the price either.

The Comforter was just that and is well named. It smelled very berrylicious and I must say I enjoyed the way it crushed within my hands and a tad satisfying. I can’t explain it, it was comforting, like squeezing a stress ball. Only half of this is needed, producing masses of bubbles and can be just what the doctor ordered. This costs £4.95, but well worth it.

I also bought some Fun for my son! You can see this in my previous blog post – Fun by Lush!

I’d recommend a visit to Lush to see for yourself, they have some fantastic Christmas products.  Go on, you know you want to!

Beauty Blog events

An evening with Omniya

I was luckily enough to attend an event organised by the London Beauty Queen who is also a blogger, one that has been blogging for a few years and well respected within the Blogger Sphere or community.

The event was held at Omniya in the heart of London’s Knightsbridge and just minutes away from the epic Harrods.

Omniya is many things. On first impressions you would think it is a specialist chemist but when you venture further in you can see it is much more than that.  The decor is very inviting, as are the staff who are more than happy to help.

Omniya is a new concept in health, beauty and a pharmacy, all wrapped in one, including a pioneering clinic and experienced practitioners.

There are many facilities and products on offer. It’s a nice place to unwind with a nice facial or maybe a beauty treatment. They have some fantastic products from cult skincare to haircare and health brands.

The amazing thing about Omniya has to be the on board and private GP who can assist with the more bespoke skincare such as ageing and regenerative medicine.

The staff consists of trained beauty therapists, wellness experts, a nutritionist and pharmacists who make you feel very welcome and at ease with their expertise.

Omniya is truly the first health and beauty MediClinc of its kind!

I spoke to the Co-founder Ahmed Al Saraf who showed me round the clinic and was very informative and explained what treatments were available.

Here are some great products on offer!  Vichy, La Roche Posay, Fillerina, Solgar, SkinCeuticals, Roger & Gallet, Zo Skin Health, just to name but a few. Reviews coming soon…

The decor was also well presented with glorious candles from Neom (and don’t you just love a good candle!) and lovely flowers from Bloomin UK.

Lovely food

I had a really lovely evening, all thanks go to Omniya and London Beauty Queen!

Skiing with the family

When choosing a holiday there are many options. When going with the family the options to a holiday are, either a holiday in a sun or the snow; or if your lucky both! 🙂

A holiday in the snow can have it’s advantages and fun, especially if it is a past time that is a passion for yourselves as a parent.

Skiing with the family may sound intimidating, however there are a lot of positives about going to ski with the family. If you have little one, you can drop them off to be cared for, that is if they are really young. Otherwise if they are over 3/4-11, there are specialist ski instructors that can teach them how to ski in a fun way.

It may be a daunting thought but going with the family is something that will not only involve the family and if taught properly, it can be a really good life skill to have, especially if learnt young. Skiing as a child can be very beneficial and is relatively easier to learn for a child as they have a lower fear factor.

A good place to start your skiing would be on an indoor slope where they also have instructors. I was lucky enough to have a day out with my son to an indoor snow slope which was kindly organised by Crystal Ski. The ski slope we went to was in Hemel Hempstead, which is the nearest one to London.

Crystal Ski offer some great packages for the family. So you can have peace of mind that things have been taken care of and the kids will be in safe hands. Their caring and professional childcare team can look after babies from as little as 6 months old, to children up to the age of 11 years.

Crystal Ski has a useful family guide to the mountains which can be viewed.

It’s also best to view all the options, as some resorts are better for family skiing. Also, look out for resorts that offer free child places, which can work out a much better deal. It is also best to look at resorts that include all facilities, such as, ski school, hire and lift passes.

Another great facility that they offer is called a pyjama club. It’s an evening club that is available in selected properties and operates for up to 6 evenings during the week. Leaving you to relax and enjoy your evening meal knowing your kids are being cared for -to me that sounds like bliss! These evenings arethemed and may include a Wii™ games, a party night and competitions.

They have a Whizz Kids Club for 3/4 years – 11 years, which includes:

  • Six days of child ski lessons.
  • Six days of child ski equipment hire.

  • Six full days of fun and activities.

  • All-inclusive package. Available in: France, Italy & Slovenia

So back to skiing in the snow centre. I’d like to thank Crystal Ski for arranging a fun ski day, making us feel welcome and for the introduction to skiing indoors.

We have been skiing before and so it helped keep the skills in tact and I couldn’t get my son off the slope. 🙂 It was a thoroughly enjoyable day. Here are some pictures of our amazing time!

My son annoyed thats he had to come off the snow slope.

Here’s a sample package:

Big ski area and childcare (from 6 months up to 11 years at hotel)

The price for a week all-inclusive catering and drinks for a family of four is from £1,337 at the three-star Hotel Claviere in Claviere, Italian Milky Way ski area, with flights from Luton and airport transfers (departure 10 January 2016).

A five-minutes’ walk to the ski school and nearest ski lift, pre-bookable Crystal-run Pepi Penguin crèche and Whizz kids’ clubs based in the hotel, 24-hour access to fridge, kettle, sterilise, microwave.

Kill Your Friends

Kill Your Friends

I recently attended a special preview cinema screening of the film; Kill Your Friends at the CourtHouse Hotel.

The film stars Nicholas Hoult, James Corden, Georgia King, Craig Roberts, Jim Piddock, Joseph Mawle, Ed Skrein, Tom Riley, Ed Hogg, Rosanna Arquette, Moritz and Bleibtreuand. There is also the special appearance from Rosanna Arquette. 🙂

It is based around the record industry, but the rather dark side of. Nicholas Hoult plays an A&R man who has to search out for new talent in the music world, as well as the next ‘killer tunes’ in more ways than one.

The film isn’t what I usually would go to see, (that is more me and not a reflection of the film) but it is well made and entertaining. The humour is very English, dark and on-point.

Nicholas Hoult’s acting is superb, as was all the actors.  It is somewhat contrived in parts but that I think was the beauty, as it is meant to be exaggerated.

I especially liked how Nicholas Hoult’s character spoke to himself and/or the audience.

Apart from the seedy parts (which were obviously there for a reason) this is a good film, humour is good and the acting, also tremendous. So I would recommend it for just that.

The soundtrack is also worth a listen. #KillYourFriends is out in UK cinemas today. So do give it a watch!

Beauty Blogger Awards 2015

I recently attended the Beauty Blogger Awards hosted at The Pillar Hall at the Olympia Exhibition Centre, London in October.

The awards were equally great, as the Olympia beauty show was also held right next door, so I could kill two birds with one stone. It was also good to pick up some more makeup goodies, especially ones that can’t be bought in the UK. I will be doing a haul and blog post soon.

The event was also a way to attend workshops, learn and meet some great brands with great products! The brands there were some exciting ones including NYX cosmetics, Magnitone, Skin Accumax, Bio Sculpture to Tweezerman.

The awards were fun, informative and an excellent way to recognise and reward blogger achievement.

The workshops were really good, useful and a good way for other key speakers to pass on their expertise. I found the losing your mojo workshop most informative and created ideas for me on how to decide blog content and how to easily revive old content.

The lovely people from BestSecret provided a fabulous goodie bag worth £250!

The American brand NYX was also there and had an amazing Photo Booth which was rather fun; including a fan to make your hair more glamorous looking. LOL. Take a look at the photo below. NYX cosmetics also provided an amazing goodie bag full of a rather generous amount of NYX cosmetics, which I was very really pleased with as I am a huge fan!

I also found Antonia; The Cosmedic Coach who was speaking at the event very enlightening, her advice was very beneficial and made sense. Her advice of having a media kit was something I never ever thought about really, especially as I am an Online Marketing professional myself.

All in all it was such a good event that I will be putting it into my diary for next year for sure.

Until next year…

Here are some pictures from the day:
