As some of you may know that it was our month of fasting. This year the fasts finished after 9 pm. Fasting and Ramadan is also such a good month to reflect. For more about Ramadan and its importance, I wrote a more detailed blog post last year here.
With the end of fasting comes Eid. We celebrated Eid on Sunday. We had a small family gathering and BBQ. It was supposed to rain for a little while, but luckily, it didn’t.
For the kids, I made some Eid favours. These made the perfect going home present and can be made for birthday party favours too.
I bought some cool glasses from Tiger with a cool Hawaiian/Summer theme with umbrellas and upside down pineapple boats.
I then filled it with sweets, Halaal sweets that is. I got some cellophane, cut it in pieces, big enough to wrap the glasses and decorated it with an Eid Mubarak (Eid Congratulations) label and tied a bow to secure it and make the decoration complete.
I printed the labels through a template on the internet, using the colour printer. There was a side that said Eid Mubarak and the other side said the same but in Arabic. As the paper was not thick enough, I stuck them together, not only did it make it thicker, but also had both sides covered.
The table display looked good, even if I say so myself. 😉
Voila! The children were really pleased to get these as gifts and they made the table look really fab.
We had a great Eid with the family and children. I also bought each child some presents, which they liked. To see a smile on the kids faces was joy enough and just made my Eid.
These are lovely! I’m sure all the children loved them. Children at my school were very excited for Eid and have been telling us lots of stories about their celebration.
Glad the kids get excited about other festivals too, it’s a great way to interact and learn about different cultures. Thanks for liking them!
