Dinner with a view or not?

I recently was treated to a lovely meal. My brother-in-law got a package for his lovely wife and my sister – The View from The Shard with 3 Course Michelin Dining and Bubbles for Two. What he didn’t realise was that the meal wasn’t at The Shard. Maybe he didn’t read the deal properly or maybe he is a typical man and didn’t go into the finer detail. LOL.

Now back to the lovely meal. My brother-in-law and sister quite kindly treated us to the meal, which was at Latium, in the heart of London. I redeemed the voucher which was really easy through Buyagift and then booked the meal with Latium over the phone.

The deal stipulates that you need to be over 18, but that is as there are bubbles for two, but since we don’t drink this wasn’t required. We also booked another place for our son and the restaurant quite kindly were ok to oblige. It was very nice of them indeed.

We had to choose from a specific menu for the deal, which luckily had fish options as we don’t eat meat outside without it being halal.

My son really enjoyed the meal, as he got to eat pasta and fish, which are his two favourites. For him we had to order from the main menu.

The pre-starters were of Taggiasca and Napoli olives, Stracciatella and Finocchiona, however, they didn’t serve us the olives and I love olives!

We had starters, a main and a desert. Everything we ate was delicious. The starter of swordfish was a bit risqué, however, I didn’t choose it. I had fishcakes for starter, ricotta & spinach ravioli for main and a lemon caprese with Limoncello cream and raspberry sorbet. Yummy! My husband had the pan fried fillet of hake and a tiramisú with mocha foam for desert. We paid extra for my son, and he also had some mango ice-cream.

I can’t fault the taste of the food (delicious), but the portions were a bit small, but not an ice breaker.

All in all we had a lovely meal and it was really nice that the restaurant welcomed our son. I would recommend it if you like Italian.

The only downside is that I think personally the deal is a tad expensive at £111.
